Pandoro (Christmas Bread)

It is a bread/cake from the Veneto Region that is eaten during the Holiday Season. Enjoy!

This cake is a Christmas specialty from the Veneto and is as famous as its Milanese counterpart- Panettone. Legend says that Venetians would dust this cake with real powdered gold, hence the name Pan d’oro or Bread of Gold. Unlike Panetone which is rounded the Pandoro forms a narrow peak and eight-sided star and today instead of gold the cake is dusted with powdered sugar to resemble a snow capped mountain.
